Summary
Today we begin a month long celebration of black history. Throughout the country, there will be programs, seminars, church services, entertainment programs to bring attention to the African- American experience, from the Holocaust of Enslavement that began in Africa with the duplicity of many African chieftains on down to the present time where the condition of blacks is the centerpiece of much political and social science discourses.
Why a special month to emphasize black history? It has developed because so much of the African-American experience is lost in traditional social science textbooks and discussions. There is often a cursory mention of the horrors of the Atlantic slave trade, that saw 20 million black souls eaten up by Atlantic Ocean sharks and the barbarity of slave traders.See the full content of this document
