Summary
Over the last few months I have been keeping my finger on the pulse of school construction and the enormous amount of money that is being spent to repair or replace public schools in Wyoming.
I have attended meetings and listened to state officials, schools district employees, construction experts, legislators and others who are optimistic, pessimistic, eager, paranoid and many other adjectives that I can't mention. I have heard people complain about our current economic boom and how it has caused a lack of contractors to build school; I have watched school district employees argue with state employees over the School Facilities Commission's oversight and approval system for receiving funds and building requirements; I have seen communities dedicate and open new schools with a sense of pride; and I have seen the faces of the kids who use the schools and how they take ownership in them. But, the one thing I have not seen is a public recognition and appreciation for the people and companies that make it all possible.See the full content of this document
