CHEYENNE -- Wyoming has the fourth-highest percentage of nursing homes with fire safety deficiencies in the nation, according to a report this month from the Government Accountability Office.
The report concludes that 94.9 percent of the state's 39 nursing homes had fire safety deficiencies, based on information as of December 2003. Nationally, 58.9 percent of 16,334 surveyed nursing homes had fire safety deficiencies. Recent data show an average of 2,300 structure fires each year from 1994 through 1999.See the full content of this document
